mishimasaiko-dandelion Music recording session

On November, the 11th I went to Douai (North France) at the public music Conservatory. There, we recorded Mishimasaiko's original musics. They have been written by the French composer Frédéric Boulard. I deeply love his work so it was such a great pleasure to work with him !

His compositions are delicate and elegant. What is more, he is very sensitive to Japanese culture. This all together made wonders for Mishimasaiko. We are impatient to make you discover the musics in the film. Here are some pictures I took that day as well as some videos to have you waiting.

Aude

The score of the first piece of the film.

The auditorium looks empty before the musicians and the singers arrival.

The piano and the harp are still wrapped in their protective covers.

Our sound engineer Christian is assisted by Clément. Together, they are getting the microphones ready for recording work.

Christian is making some technical tests.

The frst musicians arrived. They put their instruments in place. Here, the drummers.

Michel Supéra, our saxophonist.

Frédéric gives instructions on his score to Patrick Dendievel who will conduct the musicians and the singers.

A hand-written page of the score.

The first part of the recording session is done with only a few musicians...

... Then all the singers joined us.

An overview of our team : 9 musicians, 2 soloists and 11 singers.

Discussions went on in order to adapt the voices and the instruments both to Frédéric's expectations and to technical recording constraints.

Microphones are being installed for the piano recording.

Patrick gives explanations as Frédéric is still always attentive.

One of the last pieces... The title is blurred so we do not reveal any details of the plot !
